A traditional part of a Jewish wedding reception is raising the bride and groom aloft in chairs and dancing. According to Jewish law, men and women may not dance together (even a man and his wife), so rather than holding hands, they grasp opposite ends of a handkerchief. In the lower left, you can see two members of the Boston Klezmer Conservatory Orchestra.
P.S. This photo was taken by Rona Fischman, but is included in this set because it was taken with Alan's camera while Alan was helping to hold up Jim.
